Playing our part at the 2022 World Cup
World Cup fever has firmly struck the nation, taking over our news, screens and office conversations everywhere, and it’s been no different here at Ross Handling. At the time of writing, we’re heading into the final stages of the tournament and excitement is certainly building.
We were actually lucky enough to play a part in the spectacle. Balich Wonder Studios were tasked with putting on the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. To pull off their vision, they needed to build a three-part rolling stage, for which they contracted Electra Solutions. For the stage they needed turf tyres that were able to fulfil FIFA’s regulations, meaning they had to be able to carry the stage and equipment across the pitch without causing damage. For this they contacted us, and our wonderful team were able to act quickly and efficiently and get a huge number of tyres ready to be sent out to Qatar, ready to be used in the opening ceremony. The tyres will stay out in Qatar and be joined by an additional order of tyres, and will be used in again in the closing ceremony before the biggest game in world football on the 18th of December.
In the office, to add some extra excitement to the World Cup being on, we organised a sweepstake. 16 people took part, all of which had 2 teams randomly assigned to them.
Some people got quite lucky, others definitely did not, but it’s been enjoyable having everyone look out for their teams and how they’re getting in the tournament. As of 8/12/22, there are 7 people still with teams their rooting for, aside from England of course. There will be a cash prize for the winner of the sweepstake (hopefully Tom) and smaller prizes for 2nd and 3rd place.
